General description
Mag. sul. has more prostration than any other Mag. preparation. Lodging of grains is commonly met by Mag. sul. Contrary to Mag. Phos. the plant is excessively thirsty and the evaporation rate is very high. The plant is susceptible to net blotch and other blotches, and has a wilted appearance.

Chlorosis of young leaves followed in later stages by total yellowing. Lodging, wilting, withering. Net blotch. Blotches in general. Mildews. Damping off. (3)
Roots
The roots are very dry with a rough epidermis. Contrary to Mag. phos. they readily take up water, which evaporates almost immediately. (3)
Flowers
The flowers, which may come too early as the plant attempts to reproduce before it dies, are not productive (3)
Generative organs
Lack of pollen hinders fruit setting or prevents it altogether (3)
