APPLICATION OF ELECTRO-PHOTONIC IMAGING/GAS DISCHARGE VISUALIZATION TECHNOLOGY IN STUDIES OF BIOLOGICAL SYSTEMS

DV Orlov, KG Korotkov

Abstract: Electro-photonic imaging or gas discharge visualization (EPI/GDV)
technology based on the Kirlian effect is used in various fields of study: medicine,
sport, psychology, materials studies, and environmental studies. Field of materials
studies can be divided into several main topics: water and liquids studies, studies of
biological objects such as leaves, fruits, seeds, etc., and studies of non-living objects as
stones, minerals, etc. EPI/GDV in the studies of biological objects is usually used to test
various impacts on the germination of the seeds and to differentiate the seeds according
to their inner quality and energy that leads to higher germination. Application of
EPI/GDV in the studies of biological objects is not new approach, but yet not enough
developed for common usage and is still considered as an innovative and perspective
method. There are few non-destructive methods for testing of the inner, energetic state
of the biological objects, and EPI/GDV is one of them. Characteristics of the electrophotonic
emission provide the information about the inner state of the seed that can be
very useful for the agriculture.
