ANTIFUNGAL ACTIVITY AND PHYTOALEXINS INDUCTION IN SORGHUM BY HOMEOPATHIC OF CORYMBIA CITRIODORA ESSENTIAL OIL

F.J. TELAXKA; J.M. JASKI; D. BALDIN; E. SCARIOT; G. FRANZENER

ABSTRACT: The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of homeopathic
preparations of Corymbia citriodora essential oil on the germination and germ tubes
development of Botrytis cinerea and Phaeoisariopsis griseola and the induction of
phytoalexins in etiolated sorghum mesocotyls. Was evaluated 1, 6, 12, 24 and 30CH
dinamizations in alcohol 30%. The homeopathic preparations showed no antifungal
activity but induced the phytoalexins synthesis. 12CH and 24CH promoted
accumulation of phytoalexins 78.4 and 109.1% higher than control with 0.3% alcohol
but less in 51.2 and 42.8% to 1CH, respectively. The results indicate the potential of
homeopathic preparations for inducing defense mechanisms in sorghum.
Keywords: Resistance induction; Botrytis cinerea; Phaeoisariopsis griseola.
