These duplicated reports of lectures are made from short-hand notes taken during the conference held here on 12th - 18th October, 1943. They are intended as reminders of the points made by the lecturers, for the individuals who were actually present.
Those who heard the lectures will appreciate the difculty of replacing the spoken word with the writen word.
I cannot, therefore, accept these notes as a basis for discussion with any person who was not present at the conference, and who is therefore not qualifed to form a judgement on the contents of this report.
Dr. Stein's Lectures are in the form of the actual short-hand notes taken during the talk, and have not been revised or edited. They form therefore rather a stmulus to individual research and work, than a mere document of knowledge. Dr. Lehrs' Lectures have been completely re-writen by the author with many additons not included in his original lectures. I am grateful to him for undertaking this additonal burden of work in an efort to bring to a stll clearer expression what he atempted to give in his lectures. Dr. Konig's Lecture notes have not yet been returned by the author, to whom they have been sent for perusal. They will be printed as soon as possible and forwarded on to those who atended the conference.
