QUANTEC brings light into the dark

Plants react to sunlight. They do this, amongst other things, by opening gaps on the underside of the leaf, which are called stomata.

Professors Rogalla and Krönke tested whether these gaps are also opened if the plants are left in the dark, and treated only with virtual sunlight by QUANTEC.

To do this, the information on sunlight was “sent” to the plants by QUANTEC from a neighbouring room.
