At the age of fourteen Kavi met his first master gardener where he held his first job at a tree-nursery with adjacent herb garden. A few years later he learned studied more about herbs and astrology from Mellie Uyldert, a famous Dutch herbal witch and astrologer.
Everyone knows Kavi as a world traveler, hardly setting down in one place to teach, give aide or study, then on to the next place. In 1964, he went overland to India and further into Asia, learning about indigenous plants on the way, through to Vietnam, from where he returned to India, staying another 3 years.
In the Spring of 1968 approximately, he co-foundeded the Magic Bus Company, offering rides to India by minivan, and later with touring buses.
Kaviraj witnessed and participated in Woodstock in 1969 from its inception to the final product. He stayed with Alan Ginsberg, Bob Dylan, the Band and other bands, as they arrived in the village for the festival. Afterwards, he moved on to the West Coast, during the LSD explosion with among others, Ken Kesey, the Grateful Dead and the Merry Pranksters.
Returning to Europe in 1970, he went back to Europe to settle, four years later he joined the Hare Krsna movement and stayed with them till 1980. Gaining further experience in organic farming, Kaviraj ran two farms, one in France and the other in Belgium for a number of years.
Then in 1980, he had his first real experience with homeopathy in India where he had gotten sick, while living in Vrindavan UP. Whatever he tried, nothing worked until he asked for a homoeopath, whose remedy cured him within the space of three days. He subsequently became a student for a year and a half and after his master's passing away, ran the clinic for another 8.5 years.
In 1982, he received his initiation into the Bhakti tradition from Srila Bhakti-rakshak Sridhar deva Goswami, in the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya Sampradaya or disciplic succession and a year later received his second inititation. That was the time when his formal name, "Kaviraj" was bestowed. Kaviraj comes from kavi, "healer" and raja, "king." So, we call Kaviraj, "the king of healers." All Ayurvedic doctors are called kaviraj.
Then in 1986, while spending a few weeks in Europe to renew his visa, Kaviraj accidentally began his experiences with plants, which led to the publication of a book on the subject in 2006.
In 1990 Kavi moved to Australia, where he did many experiments with remedies for sick plants on a large scale. In 1997, he received a shamanic initiation, this time from Aboriginal Men of High Degree, (the literal translation of their titles as medicine men) during a corroboree in Arnhem Land.
Since 2000, he has lived in Holland, where he dedicated himself to writing about homoeopathy and medicine in general.
His books cover subjects from iatrogenesis - disease caused by inappropriate or long-continued drugs - to homoeopathic theory and philosophy, Materia Medica and a simplified version of an original textbook by Hahnemann. In his spare time, he has written "The Boon Files" - homoeopathic detective stories, a series of fictional stories based on personal experience, coupled to headlines and events read from the newspapers, from television or radio or simply from his own imagination.
